Yeah, I never trust third party bundles like that. I keep seeing them go horribly wrong.

For me, if I want to buy the game, I will buy the game directly from the source. That cuts out all chances of scams.

The humble bundle is partnered with steam and GOG and is no scam. They raise money by giving deep discounts on games, including different games at different donation levels. You get a working steam key when you buy, and the money goes to a different good cause each time. They also have humble bundles for ebooks, audio books, and music.

Don't really care if its legit or not.

I avoid all third party online retailers that aren't Amazon level "Duh, yeah, they're real".

Do I miss out on some good deals? Yeah, probably. Do I avoid wasting money on scams? Definitely.

Dont get me wrong I wont buy from an unknown third party that might be stealing keys or reselling a german copy of a game as an english copy, causing all sorts of issues installing or getting online, but humble bundle really is "duh, yeah they're real level". In FACT, its easier to get scammed through amazon, where amazon connects you with a separate 3rd party retailer (in some instances) and are not liable for that seller scamming you.

I just dont want anyone out there being misinformed or scared of the humble bundle. Do as you will, but dont frighten others. The humble bundle is well researched, and has done a lot of good for charity organizations.

I have bought from Humble Bundle before and they are legit and are a fairly nice deal. Also does some of the money go back to schema ? Or how does that work when they use your game?

Usually the way these places work is that they buy a massive number of copies from the source at a big bulk discount, then pass the saving down to you.

Lot like how infomercials work. They may only make a dollar of profit on that $19.95 whatever, but they sell 100 million of the things and make up for the low profit margin with volume.

Edymnion, for any other third party reseller yes, you are right. HOWEVER, since you apparently did not read the wiki article I linked, and to continue to please request that you stop spreading misinformation about something that you do not understand, I would like to point out that this is NOT how the humble bundle works.

Humble bundles partner with the content creators, in this case Schine. If the content creator doesnt want their content being sold at a deep discount, with an agreed-upon amount of proceeds being given to charity, then they dont participate.

In effect, Schine is donating a number of copies (and cash) to a worthy cause, through a vector of public consumption. They wont make as much money as if they sold them at full price, but the humble bundle is a valid marketing tactic to get their game out to people that otherwise may not have purchased it, and hopefully pick up some word-of-mouth advertising that will get them more future sales.

It's not a scam, its not an infomercial, and Schine is a willing participant.

That does sound like a good method for getting word out on a game. A lot of people know Humble Bundle but only some know StarMade.
