I think we should keep that until the railgun finds it\'s way into the game (it\'s the most suggested weapon so I think it will be added sooner or later ;) )

A good amc texture could be a metal tube with several cooling slots. Perhaps a small panel could be on the bottom, and a small control panel was on the back. The computer could have a display showing weapon status, and heat. It could also have a controll panel with levers and buttons, maybe also a targeting screen and ammo counter, horall super intensive work!

Given the discussion on the AMCs and Rockets, I figured I would give you all an update.

Regarding what weapons are what, I am trying to keep all blocks as close to original purposes as possible, which includes making weapons sensible on a small scale. This way, rocket pods look good in small groups on small ships, and in capital ships, especially a MAC cannon, you could group all your missiles and encase them in black hardened hull to look like a large barrel. What I tried with MAC cannons was huge AMC arrays with the lowest possible reload time (which was still really fast) and dialling up the damage. If you think about it, MAC cannons fire very fast, and the shells cant lock on or track, just like an AMC.

So..what I plan on doing here is a little fan-fiction, based off the real halo stuff, because of course starmade is really quite different to halo. If you think I have made a mistake, or think you could improve on the descriptions, feel free to post your feedback. It might be a bit long, but here we go. Just a heads up, for all 6 tile textures, it shows front, back, bottom, top, then left and right textures, as this is the format they use in the texture image, and it\'s easiest for me to arrange into images like this.

    AMC:

The AMAC is an Automatic Magnetic Accelerator Cannon, often abbreviated AMC - Auto Mag Cannon. By utilizing 3 barrels, at any one time, one barrel loads the amunition and begins the charge, the second barrel completes the charge, and the 3rd barrel fires. This allows for effective use of minaturized MAC cannons on smaller ships, utilizing a 70mm hardened magnetic tungsten alloy projectile. Grouping units in larger quantities allows for faster and greater charging, which when tweaked allows changeable reload speed, impact damage, acceleration, and distance.

    Shields:

The compact energy shield was developed by ONI Special Research Division, made from backwards engineered forerunner technology found on a Shield World. This technology is a more compact, modular successor to the energy shielding first seen on the UNSC Infinity.

    OC Cloaker:

The OC Cloaker is a early prototype capable of cloaking an entire ship, using backwards engineered Jiralhanae (Brute) cloaking technology. Due to the nature of cloaking an entire capital ship, power requirements can be extremely high.

    Radar Jammer:

Standard issue radar jamming equipment present on many UNSC stealth ships. In order to overcome the technologically advanced Covenant radar detection systems, this unit also has very high power requirements.

    Bobby AI Module:

The AI core is capable oh hosting a variety of \"Dumb\" AI on ships. In exchange for low computational and power requirements, these AI are only capable of basic pilot or turret operator functions.

    SD Cockpit:

A small cockpit which can be equipped on ships, allowing better view angles.

    Engine:

A standard fusion/combustion hybrid engine seen on many small UNSC craft. Intuitive design allows for easy scaling of the design, allowing engines anywhere in size from a small thruster on a transport, to giant propulsion engines on capital ships.

    Repair Beam:

Another piece of prototype technology from the ONI Special Research Division, utilizing nanite repair drones to perform basic ship repairs via a transmission beam.

    Salvage Beam:

Effectively using nanites with the reverse function of the repair beam, nanites can deconstruct, recover, and for the most part reassemble materials. (Not recommended for use on sentient beings).

    Power:

A basic modular power generation unit present in UNSC ships.

Right, so all the ship elements are done, here is what is left on my list of things I would like to do:

    -New shield texture

-Change shield colour (if possible) to electric blue fading to deep gold

    -Factory elements

-Permission Block (I have no idea what the 5 textures for this are for, so I haven\'t touched it)

    -Natural elements

    -Items (Perhaps)

    -Block preview textures (somewhat urgent)

-Edit BlockConfig XML to use \"UNSC Names\"

-Perhaps a few ship crew/spartan player skins

However many of these things are far less straight forward than the textures themselves, and I hate to say it, but some of my enthusiasm is fizzling. So with that in mind, I am getting what I have done out there so that you can all use it. I have included the sand textures I made, as well as the cactus and birch log, however I have replaced all my unfinished natural textures with the defaults for now. It does however include higher res versions of the folliage sprites, the bushes, flowers, etc. I am open to suggestions for any of the items I listed above, as well as feedback on the current textures. Enough talking, here you go!

I am sure you all know how to install texture packs, but for those of you who dont, the first image should be saved as t000.png , the second as t001.png. both go in your starmade directory under \"starmade/data/textures/block\". Replace the textures already there, I would suggest renaming them as a backup. You will need to repeat this after any updates to starmade.

Last but not least, I consider this my Intellectual property. You are welcome to tweak things for your personal use, or post suggestions with examples in this thread. But please give me credit for any use of these textures beyond this thread, and do not distribute copies or alterations of this without my permission.

    Enjoy,

    Tom

I intentionally flipped them around because in the Halo universe, the Medusa is a 4 shot salvo launcher.

The point of making purple flood is that it is covered in those organic kind of spires, which can look a lot like giant tentacles of a flood gravemind. The covenant don\'t have a certain planet style, but rather what ever planet they happen to run into. As far as ship components are concerned, the blue and purple hulls are textured to colours which should work just fine for covenant ships, you wouldnt want to be making whole ships out of planet materials anyway due to poor armor and high mass. Furthermore, retexturing a purple planet would offer 3 unique blocks, using the hulls you have 4 unique, or 2 similar pairs of textures which are fine for exteriors. If you are a covenant fan and make your own covenant ships, I am considering at some point down the track making an entirely covenant texture pack, but I see no way to cleanly make one which servers both purposes in-depth.

However if you have reference material or a more detailed explanation of what you would like the purple planet textured as, feel free to post them, and I will see what I could do.

The black blocks are not as black as I thought they would be from the color displayed in the file.

I like this pack a lot. Very clean and puts emphasis on the shapes. Some of the blocks I thought would look weird turned out awesome, like the ice crystal and the lights.

However, I did darken the black hull and the functional blocks that are the same tone. Also, those functional blocks had different edges then the black hull, which really looked weird when you had those in between black hull. I also made your yellow hazard bars all the same. There were also a few blocks I changed just because I thought they could use it (Core, AMC, Power tank and generator, cockpit)

Would it be possible (seen as most people use a 2x2 or 3x3 style door (i think :P )) to have the door seam in the tile edges to help it blend more? so that if i was to build a 2x2 door it would make more sense to have to seam of the door in the centre, instead of one on each side. you dont have to put it in if you dont want, but could you make a varient that people could use if they wanted to?
    Thanks,

I\'m not a halo fan at all but this is by far my favorite texture pack. It all blends together nicely and matches up well with vanilla so if you build something with the default pack it will still look nice. Other packs change the general appearance of some of the blocks so while they may look appropriate in one pack they look out of place in another. I like that you also have more variation in the cannons/mining/astro/power beams/missiles. All other packs I\'ve seen stick to the same texture with different colors like the default does. The only problems I\'ve seen is the game tends to dull down the colors so everything looks a little muted. Black is dark grey and grey is lighter too. Oh and the back of the cockpit doesn\'t look very \"cockpitty\"
