Star Trek, USS Sao Paulo, Battle Cruiser

Star Trek, USS Sao Paulo, Battle Cruiser Sao Paulo_V1-0 Grey

Update: This ship currently doesn't work because docked thrust is bugged. I will be posting an update as soon as I can.

I Present to you the USS Sao Paulo.

The original Defiant was destroyed by the Breen at the second Battle of Chin'toka. In the last episode of Star Trek DS9 it shows the original Sao Paulo, a Defiant class, being renamed to the Defiant. In the unofficial lore of Star Trek online, this ship was built 35 years later in memory of that original Sao Paulo. Once again, proudly filling the big shoes that the Defiant left behind.

So much like the original Sao Paulo is an upgrade from the Defiant class. I've taken the lessons learned from my experiments with docked armor and shields here.

    • Faster turn rate (small mother ship)
    • Less blocks needed for passive hull effects
    • More room for bigger weapons
    • Transporters wont bring your main shields down.

    General Stats
    • Length: 121, Height: 20, Width: 97
    • Mass: 8134.7
    • Thrust: 8470.1
    • Power: 4,533,165.3 @ 1,225,777.3 e/sec
    • Over-Drive: Maxed at 50%
    Offensive Stats
    • Pulse Phasors (1600/1600/800, Cannon/Cannon/Over-Drive) 80K DPS
    • 2X Quantum Torpedoes (500/500, Missile/Beam) Over 4 mil Damage per missile
    • Equiped with 3 Shuttles that can act as drones.
    Defensive Stats
    • Primary Shields: 500,772 @ 50,495 r/sec
    • Secondary Shields: 30,289 @ 1,039 r/sec
    • Defensive Ion: Maxed at 60%
    • Defensive Punch-Through: Maxed at 25%
    • Defensive Pierce: Maxed at 25%
    • 11X Anti-Missile Turrets

Well, it's not supposed to be.
This ship uses docked thrusters, and apparently blueprints don't save with the docked thrusters shared. Here is how you get it working...

Hit the "I" key to bring up your inventory. This will also bring up a bar across the top of your screen. From that bar click on the tab labeled "Ship". From that drop down menu, pick the tab that says "Thrust". This will bring up a GUI for you to adjust your thrust settings. Make sure you press the "Inherit Thrusters From Docks" button. This should fix your problem.

I don't know how I missed this, but apparently getting into the smaller shuttles is proving to be difficult.
It is impossible to access the Shuttles from this angle:
    005.jpeg

Instead you need to make sure the plex door is open and you access it from this angle:
    003.jpeg

But careful. If you try to enter with your cursor too high, it will close the plex door instead.

I love the interior layout - still here and there it needs some work (shuttles). You make good use of slabs (med room).
The exterior reminds me a bit of the defiant (StarTrek-DS9).

But I haven't seen a room to meet nature. Even the Voyager from StarTrek has some plants (Nelix collects them and Tes has a room with plants). I am sure there are good reasons to add some natural-looking place.

    Thanks for the review :)

Well, there's two groups of thought on this.

    1) The original Defiant was supposed to be a no frills, straight up, all action fighting ship. So no holodecks, lounges, or anything, just a mess hall. All crew in bunks except for the Captain and the XO. So there's that.

    2) This isn't the Defiant, so and the lore for the Sao Paulo is solely based on Star Trek Online, not sure what their lore is on this craft, but who's to say that 35 years later, this new ship wasn't give some niceties for the crew? After all, it does have windows where the Defiant doesn't have any windows.

So I think maybe I'll re-purpose one of the Science labs into a lounge or something for the crew. But this is really going to depend on how the new Crew update unfolds?

    So we'll see.
Thanks again for the review and the suggestions.
The ship is beautiful inside and out. Plenty of displays telling you what each button does and if you shouldn't push it. Ship is fast and has good weapons and shields for ship size. I wouldn't use it to attack a space station alone but as part of a fleet. Definitely an excellent addition to fleet operations. Kind of like a PT boat. Excellent ship. Kudos to the creator.

    Thanks for the review tomcat993,

I really appreciate the feed back, and I'm glad you like it. This ship was actually a request from another player, admiral pheonix. So if you have any questions suggestions or requests please let me know.

    Thanks

I filed this blueprint in survival and blasted a couple pirate bases, good work, I enjoyed the ship, i loved the quick exit hatch over the bridge, and good signage for learning the ship.
