Great Oak Battleship

    Great Oak Battleship 1.0

    wood ships! neat!
But the final product wasn't so interesting to look at, and falls very short on performance for a pvp ship of its size. If it has a strong point it would be it's balanced shielding.

Some things that could have made the ship more threatening in combat

-Needs to take advantage of Auxilliary power
-Needs to be capable of jamming efficiently
    -Needs more substantial turrets
-Needs more but smaller missile outputs
    -Needs full defensive Ion effect
-Needs fast loading/no damage distractor missiles (either on a turret or on logic)

Thanks, i appreciate the criticism from an opponent.

I have been trying to put myself in the mindset to completely refit the weapons system sooner or later, but ever since the power overhaul plans were announced i've really had a lack of motivation for building in general except on small scale projects :P

Anywho, the original intent of the cannon turrets were going to be anti-missile (yeah i know i did a REALLY bad job at that) but sooner or later il upload another version with the turrets set as such.

    Thanks for the review.
Well, that's a step back... A big one, I'd say. While it isn't cubic like Blackberry, it lost the organic feeling of Thorn. Now it is just a battleship, even without any outside decor. Try making more elegant, "living" lines, more difficult shape, some extra appendages here and there... As for the wedging, you can use brown standard armor, its colour and texture isn't too different from wood. Also, bioluminescence is usally in some degree spread around the whole creature, not concentrated in one or two spots.

For now, the Thorn is your best creation. But let my comment not disappoint you. Mastery comes with experience, and you chose an extremely interesting style.
I like your aesthetic and this is certainly a meaty ship, very difficult to destroy. I've got some notes if you're interested:

    - Your power supply is vastly more powerful than your weapons. There's 9 million power in this thing, but your main cannons, for example, draw about 2 million when you fire them. That's 285,000 blocks making up your power supply, and about 8300 making up your cannon. You could make a weapon 5-10 times as large and probably have energy to spare, or trim power supply blocks until you are generating 2 million, which is the threshold at which standard power supplies become really inefficient.
    - The cannon turrets are pretty weak given the size of the ship - a mere 50 damage per shot. If you made them rapid-fire they'd do good as anti-missile defense because they've got a good firing arc, and at the moment your ship is completely lacking point defense.
    - I can't get the ion defensive effect to work. It shows up in the gun bar but I can't see or activate it. Not sure what's going on there.
    - The small interior is a bit of a shame on a beast this size, but as you say this is meant to be a functional warship.
    - If you keep an empty block between the back of your thrusters and the rear plating of your hull, you'll be able to see thruster plumes through it. Slave a light colour onto your core and you can change the colour of the plume.
    - Even with the slanted hull and the surface details, this ship still looks a little boxy in its overall shape, though with each model you're improving. Its difficult to make a grown-looking shape using organic materials as they can't be wedged, but you could use some brown armor to do that, and to add miters or joints to your wood structures (like turrets). Slight variations in surface colour and texture can help break up a big shape and make it look cooler up close.

I hope you keep building, I like your theme very much and your Thorn fighter is good.
