      Thats kind of what I was saying. The portal doesnt need to inform the players, but it should have a faction alignment based on the faction of the ship generating it.

      I think it shouldn't, mainly because that would be dependent on the faction actually communicating when they are coming in. The portal itself should default to the faction assigned to the ship generating the portal so that turrets dont fire on it if its friendly.

      Performance is an issue that will be resolved over time. Having the rendering client-side would take the load off the servers though so there should be less server crashes. And as the rendering technique for the game on the whole is improved, performance should become less of a concern anyway.

      I support this idea, it seems like a very nice addition. Although nebulae shouldn't dissipate because someone took all the inventory, they should regenerate over time imo.

We don't know how such a system would affect future features so its a question of whether the devs want to spend the time on a whole new feature now and then troubleshoot issues with each other feature that messes it up, or wait until the features most likely to conflict are already...

      Exactly. We can always add more depth later if it's needed, but we have been stuck on the building aspect of the game for a long time and there are a lot of other features that need to be added in. Preferably before beta so that they can have the test of time.

      I'm sure someone would figure out a way to weaponize that system...but you have defeated me in honorable and fair combat so I accede defeat. :P
